We have all been there, sitting in front of our computers or phones, looking at yet another denial email. You thought this time would be better, your resume matched what they were looking for, this application would land the job. Self doubt and frustration set in, and you start to think that the job you hate is just your reality. You think this is what your life is and to just get used to it, that your dream career just isn’t going to happen.
What if I told you that those thoughts are not true, and not your reality? What if I told you that you need guidance from someone who has done it before? What if I told you that yes, it will take time, but there are ways to get the career you dream of?
Looking for a career coach can be intimidating. How do you know if you will like them? How do you know their information will actually help you?
Below are 18 reasons why you should hire a career coach, and what I do as a coach to help in those specific areas.
Clarify your career goals: A career coach can help you identify and clarify your career goals by helping you to assess your strengths, interests, and values.
We do this by looking at your dream goal, and identifying what you like, dislike and aligning those to your strengths and possibilities for improvement. From there, you will decide which road to take.
Create a career plan: Once you have a clear understanding of your career goals, a career coach can help you create a realistic career plan and actionable steps to achieve them.
Career plans come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on your availability, schedule, desires, timeline, etc, we will look at what is realistic for your current situation and how to make the most of it.
Improve your job search skills: A career coach can provide guidance on job search techniques, such as networking, resume writing, and interviewing skills.
In my experience, this is a major area of opportunity. We go through and make a network if you do not currently have one, refresh your resume through keywords so it gets noticed in the field you are interested in, and I personally prepare you for your interviews so you feel confident and calm.
Expand your professional network: A career coach can help you expand your professional network by introducing you to people in your field and providing opportunities to connect with others.
I use your current network and utilize LinkedIn for expanding professional networks. It is a great tool to find out if the career or role you want is actually the right fit for you OR EVEN the role you want!!! I have scripts to make it easy, and together I teach you how to navigate this process.
Gain confidence: A career coach can provide support and encouragement as you navigate the job search process, helping you to gain confidence in your abilities and decisions.
How you feel is everything. Not only will we find your dream career/role, but we will discover strengths you didn’t know you had, and make sure your mindset is on point by discovering your WHY and what is really important to you.
Identify obstacles and overcome them: A career coach can help you identify obstacles that may be preventing you from reaching your career goals and provide strategies to overcome them.
This is huge! Working together we will dive deep into what is holding you back. Depending on your roadblocks, this can be cleared in 1 session, or it might be something you will be working on the rest of your life. Either way, I will provide tools to help you navigate obstacles that stand in your way.
Navigate career transitions: Whether you are changing careers or transitioning into a new role, a career coach can provide guidance and support during this time of change.
I have a whole module on this. People think once they land their dream career coaching ends, but this is a big transition and I help guide you through.
Develop new skills: A career coach can help you identify areas where you may need to develop new skills and provide resources to help you acquire them.
Never. Stop. Learning. There are so many options and opportunities to learn and become knowledgeable about things you don’t know. Together we can explore opportunities for learning and the best option to take.
Improve your work-life balance: A career coach can help you prioritize your goals and create a plan to achieve a better work-life balance.
It’s noisy out here. I will help you craft a life that works best for you. In my one on one coaching, schedule and realistic expectations is a major conversation. I am here to set you up for success and be realistic about what you want, need, and a realistic timeline for your process.

Done. Need email follow up and checklists? Done. I am here to help you achieve your greater success, and lots of times it is about changing habits.
Enhance your self-awareness: A career coach can help you to understand your strengths, weaknesses, values, and personality traits, which will enable you to make informed career decisions.
Finding your WHY and aligning your skills is a big part of my coaching process. Many people like to skip this part, but it sets the tone and direction of the Career Leap process.
Explore new career options: A career coach can help you to explore different career paths that align with your interests, skills, and values.
Sometimes what you think you want is not actually what you are applying for. Looking at all options that might interest you, and some you didn’t know were even an option, is part of the coaching process. I will also help you craft emails and messages to people who are in the desired position so you can get a clear picture of what the role truly entails.
Build your confidence: A career coach can help you to boost your self-confidence and overcome any limiting beliefs or self-doubts that may be holding you back.
I will coach you on how to build a Success Mindset and daily tasks to build your confidence. This comes with practice and is ever changing, and I am here to guide you through the process.
Navigate career transitions: A career coach can help you to navigate career transitions, such as changing industries or starting a new career.

Finding keywords that your industry uses, feeling confident in emails and meetings, and presenting yourself in a professional manner are important skills that can be learned to feel like a boss.
Enhance your leadership skills: A career coach can help you to develop your leadership skills, which are valuable in any career.
Helping you know your value and worth is priceless. Honing your skills and being able to ask for the promotion, put your hand up for the project, know that you will crush it are all things that I teach so you know how to verbalize how to get to your next goal.
Overcome career obstacles: A career coach can help you to overcome any obstacles that you may encounter in your career, such as workplace conflicts or difficult colleagues.
Communication is the most important part of being successful in your career. You have to feel comfortable in what you are saying, and communicate effectively with all walks of life. Obstacles are everywhere, and learning how to overcome them in a positive way will help you be successful.
